Joker
Domestic Short Hair | 1 Year 11 Months | Male
Joker is a former street cat who has just recently started to learn the wonders of indoor living. Despite being scared, he is a kitty that has only ever wanted to be loved and he makes sure to show it every day! His journey to his new life began about a year ago, when we slowly began to win his trust with treats and a little cat house to keep him warm in the winter. His heart warmed up and finally we were able to catch him and bring him in for necessary vet attention for an injured leg and TNR. He surprised us after a few days when he broke out of the pen we had him in and demanded snuggles and attention, and we haven't looked back since!
Joker is a very loving boy that needs to be pet and cuddled as much as possible. He will sit at your feet and meow until you give him attention. If he thinks your hand is too far away from him, he will literally hop up to guide your hand to pet down his back while his little tail will gently wrap around your arm. He's still learning how to play with toys but he needs no lessons in getting into a lap and purring for hours. His desire for affection is second only for his desire for food- Joker is a very food-motivated cat and so far has been getting trained to go into a cat carrier and have his nails clipped with treats as the reward for putting up with such silly human business.
Joker has a big heart full of love, but said heart does have a problem. He's got a leaky valve, but it has been caught so early that the only treatment he needs is 1/4 a pill of heart medicine once a day that he takes easily when powdered up into his wet food. He's an energetic little lad who isn't afraid to start jumping on counters if he thinks dinner isn't coming fast enough. We've been introducing him to our cats and he has been pretty chill with the entire endeavor, though he is much more focused on humans than other cats. He'd do well in a calm household with other cats when introduced properly or as a single cat so long as he gets his pet quota. And that little bit of pink you see on his mouth? That's not a blep- his mouth is just that adorably pink! He is still a bit skittish when shown new things, but gains confidence fast and soon will be showing off his little tricks if you give him room to relax and learn the world around him.
A young and sweet boy who is still learning how wonderful the world can be inside with a devoted human by his side and two square meals a day- will you be the one who gives him all the love and food he could ever dream of? Be careful- he might just take your heart!
